Erasmus+KA220-ADU Ecoliterature

This project directly addresses the priority on the environment and the fight against climate change by fostering sustainability awareness through literature. By integrating eco-literature into adult education, the project aims to inspire reflection, critical thinking, and behavioral change regarding environmental issues. Participants will engage with literary works that explore themes such as biodiversity loss, environmental justice, and climate crisis solutions, fostering a deep,
emotional connection with sustainability issues.
Additionally, the project will promote green skills development, equipping adults from disadvantaged backgrounds with practical knowledge on sustainable practices in daily life. Through workshops, discussions, and community-based initiatives, the project will encourage climate action at an individual and societal level, in alignment with the EU Green Deal and the European Education Area’s sustainability goals.
Furthermore, this project supports lifelong learning by making environmental education accessible to diverse adult learners, particularly those who have had limited access to formal education. It leverages eco-literature as an inclusive and engaging educational tool, ensuring that learning opportunities are adapted to low literacy levels and learning styles.
By involving multigenerational groups, including parents, grandparents, and the younger adults that make up the student population of the schools involved in this project, the project fosters knowledge exchange and encourages family and community-based learning. Moreover, it seeks to empower marginalized and disadvantaged groups, such as migrants, the unemployed, and low-skilled adults, by offering innovative educational experiences that integrate environmental awareness with personal development and active citizenship.
Last, educators and adult learning facilitators are at the heart of this project. It prioritizes professional development by equipping them with innovative teaching methodologies that merge eco-literature, digital tools, and climate education.
Through training sessions, resource development, and collaborative exchange of best practices, the project will enhance their andragogical skills in sustainability education, as well as the “green knowledge” of no-sustainability teachers .
Special emphasis will be placed on experiential learning, critical thinking methodologies, and the use of digital storytelling to engage adult learners. Furthermore, educators will be supported in integrating green skills into their curricula, ensuring that climate education becomes an essential component of adult learning across diverse educational contexts and diverse class subjects.
